All about laser hair removal
Principle of laser hair removal
The laser emits a powerful light which is transformed into heat by the melanin in the hair. This process leads to the destruction of the hair bulb when the hair is in the growth phase. Due to the very nature of the process, only hair that is sufficiently dark (i.e. contains sufficient melanin) can be effectively treated in this way.
For the same reason, this process is also more effective for lighter skin. The results will therefore be optimal for dark hairs on relatively light skin.
Laser treatment

It is preferable to be as little tanned as possible during the operation, and to avoid exposure to the sun for two weeks after the last session. Late autumn or winter are therefore good times for laser hair removal from areas that are likely to be exposed (legs, back or torso for men...).
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal is unpleasant and even painful. Nevertheless, not necessarily much more than waxing, which doesn't go very well, and you don't have to do it every week! Your doctor may be able to apply a local anaesthetic cream to relieve the pain.
Areas of the body affected
All areas of the body can be treated by laser hair removal: facial hair removal, from the legs to the bikini line (and even the whole bikini line!). Laser hair removal can also be applied to the back or torso, for men.
Number of sessions required per area to be depilated:
Duvet /5 to 7 sessions ; Underarms / 5 to 7 sessions ; Arm / 5 to 7 sessions
Classic bikini / 6 to 8 sessions ; Brazilian bikini / 6 to 8 sessions ; Full bikini / 6 to 8 sessions ; Half legs / 6 to 8 sessions ; Whole legs / 8 to 10 sessions It takes between two weeks and a month between each session.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is not absolutely permanent. Depending on your hair type, it will range from long-lasting (a few years at least) to permanent. I
In any case, if the hair starts to grow back after a few years, the hair regrowth will be very weak and a new treatment will quickly come to an end.
Laser hair removal is generally more effective than pulsed light hair removal, but less effective than electrolysis, which is the only perfectly permanent method.
